On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Fondazione Banco dell’Energia, photographer Marco Garofalo guides us on a journey through 80 shots capturing the essence of a number of significant projects aimed at combating energy poverty across Italy, from Milan to Rome and as far as Sardinia.
Edited by Nicolas Ballario, the volume was created to celebrate a decade of concrete interventions: over €15 million raised, 17,000 beneficiaries reached, and a network of more than 100 organizations united by the desire to bring dignity and hope to families and individuals in need.
Each photograph stands as a testament to courage, told through neighborhoods, homes, and communities where energy consumption becomes both a reflection of vulnerability and an opportunity to recognize acts of solidarity by workers, volunteers, associations, technicians, and families who share their time, listening, skills, and presence.
Leafing through Portraits of Energy means embracing a renewed awareness, drawing inspiration, and joining a shared journey toward a fairer future where no one is left behind.
