In 1958, ten years after the founding of Magnum - the legendary institution that championed a fully authorial role for photogra- phers - a rich correspondence and close collaboration began with the Olivetti company. It would become much more than a conventional relationship between a renowned photojournalism agency and a major international company. From the largely un- published original documents preserved in the archives of the Olivetti Historical Archive Association in Ivrea emerges the re- construction of a dialogue between two communities. In this ex- change, art, industry, design, and graphic culture conveyed the values of a new social and cultural project. It was a remarkable season in which Magnum photographers - Henri Cartier-Bres- son, Erich Hartmann, Sergio Larrain, and Wayne Miller - stood out as perhaps its most significant narrators.
