Founded in 2008 at the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, the Ambrosian Academy promotes scholarly research through international dialogue across disciplines. Within this framework, the Slavic Studies Class explores the Slavic world in a broad perspective, spanning East and West from the Middle Ages to the present day, while highlighting the Ambrosian Library’s collections and the historical and cultural relations between Milan and the Slavic countries.

This volume largely brings together contributions presented at the eleventh Dies Academicus (2022), devoted to The Mother of God in Slavic Cultures. The essays offer a wide-ranging overview of a theme of fundamental importance not only in religious and theological contexts, but also in literary, artistic, historical, and cultural terms, revealing its enduring significance within the Slavic linguistic and cultural space.
