The project "Insulae Aqua" is a tribute to the island as a fundamental dimension of our place in the world. Island – from the Latin insŭla – refers to a land entirely surrounded by water, which defines a clearly demarcated and relatively inaccessible territory, where the physical experience of isolation merges with the lyrical impulse of a gaze constantly drawn toward the infinite. In its metaphysical and introspective dimension, the island becomes an image, a symbol, a dream, and a metaphor for our contemporary existence. "Insulae Aqua" is a photographic exploration that listens to the territory and the community inhabiting the small and unspoiled island of Linosa – a fascinating and magnetic place, remarkable for its unique landscape, geography, and natural features, a true triumph of environmental, biological, and vital complexity. The story of Italy’s most remote and isolated island, captured through the lenses of Gianni Berengo Gardin and Filippo Romano.
